Mining company Osisko Gold has surprised the market by publishing the results of new drilling in the Proserpine area in Canada, located just a few kilometers from its flagship project. These data reveal the immense potential hidden in the region and prove that there is a real opportunity to expand the company's operations in a way that was not possible until now.

Heavy machinery discovered incredible concentrations of gold, including a find of almost 96 grams of gold per ton of rock and records of over 873 grams per half-meter of soil. The company's president, Chris Lodder, stated:

"We are encouraged by the initial results of the drilling campaign at Proserpine, which highlight the potential for a new and significant gold mineralization system, located just 7 kilometers from the Cariboo Gold deposit. The drilling intersected gold-rich structures that show similarities to those at Cariboo, but also contain areas with broader, lower-grade mineralization that may point to potential for bulk mining methods."

"To date, the drilling has tested an area spanning approximately 1.0 by 0.5 kilometers within a larger target of soil and rock gold anomalies measuring 6.0 by 1.0 kilometers. For illustration, the currently defined Cariboo Gold deposit spans approximately 4.0 kilometers in length by 0.5 kilometers in width, which highlights the exploration potential that remains to be tested at Proserpine."

The company began searching for gold in this area back in 2018 and is now renewing excavations with plans to expand them by tens of thousands of additional meters. The implication is straightforward: instead of digging in complicated and expensive underground mines, the new find allows for surface mining right next to a facility that has already received all government operational approvals.
