A temporary away stand collapsed during the Norwegian league match between Tromso and Bodo/Glimt on Sunday, injuring a 25-year-old fan who fell through the flooring. The incident occurred in the 41st minute when Israeli goalkeeper Nikita Haikin spotted the collapse and frantically signaled referee Ola Hobber Nilsen to halt the match.

Chaos in the Stands

Around 600 fans were packed into the scaffolding-supported away section when a flooring panel gave way under the weight. Two fans actually fell through the gap, while four in total required medical checks. Twenty-five-year-old Sigurd Stover suffered a fracture and was rushed to the hospital, where his brother Magnus later reported that he was conscious and in stable condition. Stadium announcers delivered positive news about the injured fan during the half-time break.

Witnesses described terrifying scenes as fans tumbled forward. Bodo/Glimt CEO William Frantzen confirmed that preliminary assessments point to a flooring board failing under the load, despite the stand having passed prior safety inspections. Police and local authorities have evacuated the remaining away supporters, sealed off the area, and launched a criminal investigation into potential negligence.

Match Resumption and Victory

Following consultations between club officials, police, and the Norwegian Football Federation, the match resumed after a roughly 40-minute delay. Bodo/Glimt supporters were relocated to the home stands as play got back underway.

Striker Ola Brynhildsen starred on the pitch after the restart, scoring twice to secure a 2-0 victory for Bodo/Glimt and temporarily lift them to the top of the league table. Reflecting on the harrowing ordeal after the final whistle, Brynhildsen stated: "There were two things that impacted the game. The fact that we managed to regroup after such a long break is remarkable. I sincerely hope the injured fan is feeling well."
