Mercedes officially claimed the 2026 Formula 1 Constructors' Championship on Sunday, just a week after Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured the drivers' world title. Meanwhile, Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll endured another dismal weekend at the São Paulo Grand Prix, marking his 13th retirement of the season.

The Canadian-Jewish driver struggled throughout the weekend at Interlagos. After completing just seven laps in practice before heading to the garage, Stroll managed only 19th place in qualifying. His race came to a definitive halt on the 32nd lap when technical issues forced him into the pits and out of contention.

Stroll has now failed to finish 13 out of 20 races this season, remaining without a single championship point and sitting 22nd and last among regular drivers. His highest finish this season is 12th place, with three races remaining to salvage his campaign.

During Friday's opening practice, Stroll drew sharp criticism from Sky Sports commentators. Replays of Turn 6 prompted analyst Karun Chandhok to question the unusual steering inputs that caused his tires to slide. "I have never seen a racing driver turn the steering wheel like that in a high-speed corner," Chandhok remarked.
