Ministers, MKs and advisors: Politicians flock to Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto again ahead of elections
In less than a week, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto celebrated the engagement of his son and daughter, with numerous politicians in attendance. The Knesset Speaker and senior ministers were documented in conversation with the rabbi, alongside a close associate of the Prime Minister and a prominent media consultant.
Ahead of the Knesset elections, an increasing number of senior politicians are seeking to associate with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto. In just three days, a long line of ministers, Knesset members, and public figures from both the right and the left attended his family's engagement events.
Yesterday, the engagement celebration for the rabbi's daughter took place. Among those present were Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, who sat next to the rabbi, and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. Economic Committee Chairman David Bitan was also seen receiving a blessing. Other attendees included Ministers Gideon Sa'ar and Ze'ev Elkin, as well as Minister of Heritage Amichai Eliyahu. Topaz Luk, an advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was also in attendance. Alongside coalition members, media consultant Ronen Zur, typically identified with the opposition, was seen speaking with the rabbi.
Last week, at the engagement of the rabbi's son, Minister of Defense Israel Katz left a Security Cabinet meeting to attend, prompting Prime Minister Netanyahu to ask, "Where is the Minister of Defense?". Other Likud figures present included Yoav Kisch, David Amsalem, Miki Zohar, Idit Silman, and Amir Ohana.
Idit Silman wrote on social media that she received a blessing for success in the primaries, stating: "Facing the alienation of the left from tradition, the right is the exact opposite. The blessing of the righteous has accompanied me from my first day in politics."
Rabbi Pinto, head of the "Shuva Israel" institutions, previously served a one-year prison sentence for bribing the late Brigadier General Ephraim Bracha. In 2019, he was appointed head of the rabbinical courts of the Jewish community in Morocco.
