Milwidsky to Protesters: "They Are Worse Than Nukhba"
During a Finance Committee meeting, Chairman Hanoch Milwidsky clashed with activists protesting the transfer of 360 million shekels to settlements, calling them "worse than Nukhba."
At a Finance Committee meeting held on Tuesday, intended to approve coalition budget transfers to settlements totaling over 360 million shekels, activists protesting the fund allocations disrupted the proceedings. Committee Chairman MK Hanoch Milwidsky confronted them:
"Do not talk about settlers. Shame. Disgusting, yuck. These are worse than the terrorists, worse than the Nukhba."
The meeting took place following a petition to the Supreme Court by MK Naama Lazimi (The Democrats) and Adv. Yifat Solel on behalf of the Hiddush organization. The petition requested an injunction against holding the meeting, or alternatively, an interim order to prevent the transfer of funds, arguing that the discussion was being held "in violation of the provisions of the law and the decisions of the Knesset during the election recess period."
The petition was filed after Milwidsky failed to respond to a warning letter demanding the cancellation of the session. It claims the meeting violates a Knesset decision that allowed the Finance Committee to hold only one discussion during the first two weeks of recess—a session that took place on July 29 and concluded without approving any fund transfers. It was further alleged that the agenda included coalition transfers not discussed before the recess, including approximately 280 million shekels for Haredi and religious educational institutions.
MK Lazimi stated:
"We warned in advance that we would not allow a daylight robbery of our tax money. The thieves of the outgoing coalition are behaving like a gang trying to empty the public coffers a moment before it loses power. The excuse of a 'continuation discussion' is an insult to intelligence, a trampling of the rules of proper administration, and a direct blow to the integrity of the elections. Hundreds of millions of shekels that are supposed to go to reservists, evacuees, and the welfare and health systems that are collapsing are now being diverted as election bribes to draft dodgers and cronies. We will stand there like a solid wall and fight for every shekel—until we replace them in the elections and bring a responsible government to Israel."
