Maya Key suffered an antisemitic attack: "He simply decided to convey a message"

Maya Key is a leading Israeli model, presenter, and social media personality, known for her participation in reality shows such as 'Survivor' and 'Dancing with the Stars'. One of the things that characterizes Maya is her ability to captivate her audience with her stories. While the rest of the nation is trying to navigate daily routines, she skips from one photogenic vacation to another, uploading photos that make us all want to book a flight ticket immediately.

During her recent vacation in Madrid, she was enjoying the good life, uploading enviable footage from a stunning restaurant in the Spanish capital where she sat with her mother. This time, however, she chose to expose and document a less pleasant incident she experienced there.

Maya uploaded a series of stories to Instagram sharing the antisemitic incident she experienced at the restaurant:

"My mother and I were sitting for dinner at the hotel where we were staying. We were chatting in our language. The restaurant was not very full. Suddenly, a couple I had seen sitting behind my mother and to my side placed a phone directed straight at us. I didn't notice it at all during the entire meal."

Maya attached photos showing that the guy's phone screen displayed a Palestinian flag, writing:

"He simply decided to convey a clear message during our stay at the restaurant, a certain statement."

Ultimately, this ugly incident is a painful reminder of the hostile reality that many of us, as Israelis, experience abroad during this period. Yet, this moment reveals another, more exposed and real side of Maya.

Instead of continuing to broadcast 'business as usual' and presenting only the sparkling filters of Madrid, she chose to show what is less pleasant to the eye. She proved that beyond dream vacations, she is not afraid to break the Instagram bubble and share reality as it is, even when it is far from photogenic.
