May Golan May Secure a Spot on Ben Gvir’s List: "She is a good friend, wait"
The Likud minister reached 23rd place in the primaries, but due to reserved slots, she was pushed to an unrealistic position. Itamar Ben Gvir did not rule out her joining Otzma Yehudit. Following the results, Golan attacked "briefers on behalf of the PM," claiming she was deemed "too right-wing" for the government's future plans.
Minister May Golan is expected to receive a reserved spot on the Otzma Yehudit party list for the Knesset. Golan reached 23rd place in the Likud primaries and was placed in an unrealistic spot due to the Prime Minister's reserved slots.
Otzma Yehudit Chairman Itamar Ben Gvir was asked about such a possibility during his official statement regarding the joining of Tally Gotliv, and he did not rule it out:
"May Golan is a good friend of mine, she is an excellent minister. We will publish the list later. It is not enough to be friends, but you will see in the list we publish what Otzma Yehudit will bring."
Golan also hinted that she would not leave the Knesset despite the primary results. After the vote, she attacked "briefers on behalf of the Prime Minister," as she put it:
"The false spins that were distributed the day before the primaries, despite the 'hit lists' of those who did not want a right-wing and opinionated woman in the party, and those same 'briefers on behalf of the PM' whom I will elaborate on and tell about their actions later — who decided that I am 'too right-wing' and could interfere with the future plans they intend for the government and its head, despite all this — you were with me. A huge audience of true right-wingers."
At the end of the post, she added: "To be continued..."
Golan entered the Knesset for the first time in 2019, at age 32, after garnering about 7,000 votes among Likud youth and overcoming eight candidates. She was placed in the 32nd spot on the party's list for the 21st Knesset, in the youth slot. At that time, she was identified mainly with the struggle against infiltrators in south Tel Aviv and with activity for the rehabilitation of the neighborhood. In the current government, Golan serves as the Minister for the Advancement of the Status of Women and Social Equality.
