German football legend Lothar Matthäus caught public attention at the Munich Oktoberfest alongside his 27-year-old partner Theresa Sommer, amid his extensive romantic history.
Lothar Matthäus is usually accustomed to being the center of attention in Germany, but at the Munich Oktoberfest, a significant portion of the focus was stolen by his 27-year-old partner, Theresa Sommer.
The 65-year-old German football legend, who once famously managed Maccabi Netanya, arrived at the traditional Munich festivities alongside Sommer, who is 38 years his junior. The two posed together with his arm around her waist, in what quickly became one of the most talked-about appearances at the event.
A Relationship in the Spotlight
The couple's relationship has now lasted for about 18 months. The two first made headlines in the German media following a joint ski vacation in Austria back in April. Matthäus tried to avoid questions about his personal life at the time, stating, "We came here to ski, and everything else is a private matter."
Since then, however, their joint appearances have become much more frequent. Sommer, who studied economics and is also active as an Instagram model, accompanied Matthäus to the 2025 UEFA Nations League final in Munich and the Ballon d'Or ceremony, among other high-profile events.
Looking Back at Past Marriages
However, anyone thinking this is leading to another wedding will likely have to wait. Matthäus has already made it clear that he has no plans to marry again—a notable fact considering his heavily packed romantic history.
The former star has been married no fewer than five times. His first marriage was in 1981 to Sylvia, with whom he had two daughters, before they divorced in 1992. Two years later, he married Swiss model Lolita Morena, having a son with her, but that relationship also ended in divorce in 1999.
"We came here to ski, and everything else is a private matter," Matthäus once remarked regarding his personal life.
In 2003, he married for the third time to Marijana Kostić, a marriage that lasted six years. In 2008, at the age of 47, he married Ukrainian model Kristina Liliana Chudinova in Las Vegas, who was just 21 at the time, though the two separated about two years later.
His fifth and final wife to date was Anastasia Klimko. They married in 2014, had a son together, and divorced seven years later in 2021.
