National Insurance Institute cancels benefits and demands repayment of funds
A large-scale enforcement operation by the Israel Police and the National Insurance Institute has uncovered systematic fraud involving false declarations of residency. The move is expected to save the state treasury tens of millions of shekels.
In a large-scale enforcement operation led by the Judea and Samaria (SHAI) District of the Israel Police, in cooperation with the National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi), the Investigations Division, and the Population and Immigration Authority, measures were taken to revoke the eligibility of individuals who presented false representations regarding their center of life to fraudulently obtain social benefits and health services.
The operation, dubbed 'National Justice,' was conducted under the leadership of SHAI District Commander, Nitzav Moshe Pinchi, and in accordance with the policy of the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, and the Police Commissioner, Rav-Nitzav Dani Levy.
The activity, which took place this morning across Samaria, Judea, and Gilad, is the result of a prolonged covert investigation. Evidence was gathered indicating a systematic pattern of concealing actual places of residence to claim residency status and exploit public service mechanisms for illegal financial gain.
As part of this operation, the eligibility of 211 individuals was revoked, some of whom are also involved in criminal offenses. Administrative procedures have been initiated, and the possibility of prosecuting the suspects for obtaining property by deception under aggravating circumstances is being considered.
Estimates suggest that this enforcement activity will save the state treasury tens of millions of shekels through the cessation of illegal payments, the recovery of funds, and the prevention of future fraud.
SHAI District Commander, Nitzav Moshe Pinchi, stated:
'Determined enforcement against fraud is an integral part of strengthening governance and realizing the sovereignty of the State of Israel. Public funds are intended solely for those entitled to them by law, not for those who choose to defraud state authorities for personal gain.'
He added:
'Close cooperation between all enforcement bodies allows us to uncover complex fraud, protect the public treasury, strengthen public trust in state institutions, and bring to justice those who harm its resources. The SHAI District will continue to act with zero tolerance to enforce the law and maintain the state's sovereignty.'
The National Insurance Institute emphasizes that eligibility for benefits is determined strictly by residency requirements. In any case where false declarations are identified, necessary steps will be taken, including revocation of eligibility, recovery of funds, and legal proceedings.
The SHAI District Police, together with all enforcement authorities, will continue to act with zero tolerance against fraud to protect public funds and strengthen social and national justice.
