Relief for reservists extended: No attachments until the end of February 2027
Minister of Justice Yariv Levin has extended a temporary order protecting reservists and their spouses from debt enforcement proceedings. The relief period is now effective until February 28, 2027.
Minister of Justice Yariv Levin approved today (Wednesday) the extension of a temporary order in the Execution Office regulations, which grants protection to reservists serving in the 'Iron Swords' war and their spouses against enforcement proceedings. The regulations, intended to ease the burden on debtors serving in the reserves and their spouses, came into effect on August 28, 2025, until August 31, 2026, and have now been extended until February 28, 2027.
As part of the relief, operational measures such as the seizure and attachment of movable property, vehicle seizure, eviction from an apartment, and arrest warrants will not be taken. Furthermore, no attachments will be placed on funds, assets, or salaries, no restrictions will be imposed on the debtor, and it will not be possible to request the cancellation of the debtor's status as a paying debtor.
It should be noted that due to their importance, Execution Office files for the collection of alimony debt to a private creditor, other than the National Insurance Institute, have been excluded from the regulations and the benefits provided therein.
In order to receive the protection, the debtor must notify the Execution Office of their eligibility for protection, accompanied by a reserve service certificate. The eligibility period, during which the debtor is granted protection, begins on the date the reserve service commences and lasts for three months. In the event that the debtor is still serving in the reserves at the end of the period, the eligibility period can be extended for an additional three months. If, during the eligibility period, one of the measures stipulated in the regulations was taken against an eligible debtor before they notified of their eligibility, they may submit a request to the Execution Registrar to cancel the proceedings.
The Enforcement and Collection Authority announced that the validity of the relief has also been extended at the Center for Collection of Fines.
