"Destroyers of democracy" in the crosshairs: Yair Golan launches election campaign
The chairman of the Democrats and the list members are launching the "Fighters for democracy against the destroyers of democracy" campaign. After four years of struggle on the streets, in reserve duty, and at the Hostages Square, the party seeks to transfer this power to the ballot box and the government. The message: replacing Benjamin Netanyahu is not enough.
The Democrats party launched its official election campaign today, Wednesday, under the title: "Fighters for democracy against the destroyers of democracy." The campaign is led by the party chairman, Major General (res.) Yair Golan, alongside the rest of the list members.
As part of the campaign, a series of videos and posters will be published, in which the party members are presented as "fighters for democracy" against those defined by it as "destroyers of democracy." Each of the list members is expected to publish a poster including a personal message.
"Against those who destroy democracy, we are the force that will not fold in moments of decision," said Golan. "The force that will fight for real change, for the cancellation of the coup laws, for equality, and for a free and democratic Israel. Without the Democrats, there will be no democracy."
Through the campaign, the party seeks to connect the protests on the streets, the service in the reserves, and the activity for the hostages to the struggle at the ballot box. The central message is that the power built during the four years of struggle will now move to the political arena and the next government.
In the Democrats' headquarters, they emphasize that from their perspective, replacing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not enough. According to them, the test of the next government will be whether it acts to cancel what they call "the coup laws," to change policy, and to repair the institutions of democracy, or whether it will settle for compromises that will maintain the status quo.
