Israeli basketball coach David Blatt: Life in the US and the battle with illness
Shani Blatt, daughter of the renowned basketball coach, shared an update on her father's health as he continues his battle with multiple sclerosis since 2019. She noted that despite a challenging personal period, he remains surrounded by love and support.
David Blatt, one of the most prominent names in Israeli basketball, has been dealing with multiple sclerosis since 2019. However, it appears this is not the only complex matter in his life, as reports indicate the coach is going through a difficult period while in the process of separating from his wife, Kinneret Blatt.
It has been reported that Blatt moved to the USA, while his family remained in Israel. His daughter, Shani, recently returned to Israel after serving as a field reporter for Kan 11 at the 2026 World Cup and managed to visit her father during her time overseas. His son, 29-year-old Tamir Blatt, recently concluded a two-year stint with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Last Saturday, Shani held a Q&A session on her Instagram page, providing a rare glimpse into her father's struggle with multiple sclerosis. Addressing concerns from followers about his health and whether his condition had declined, she replied with complete honesty:
"His condition is good. True, it is not the most sympathetic disease, but I had some amazing days with him. We are all by his side, taking care of him and surrounding him with love. To everyone who sent me a message or commented on the video I uploaded with him, I made sure to pass on all the love. He was very moved and sends a huge thank you to all of you."
