Tel Aviv Court Extends Detention of Suspect in Singer Yuval Dayan Stalking Case
A Tel Aviv court extended the detention of a man suspected of stalking Israeli singer Yuval Dayan and violating a restraining order, as police investigate the incidents.

The Tel Aviv Magistrates' Court extended the detention of 56-year-old Siman Tov Levy by another day on Wednesday. Levy is suspected of stalking singer Yuval Dayan and violating a restraining order, despite an evaluation showing no immediate danger.
Court Proceedings and Conditions
Judge Roi Perri ruled that Levy could be released under restrictive conditions. However, due to the lack of a guarantor to sign a bail bond ensuring compliance, the judge ordered him to remain in custody until Thursday morning.
Levy was arrested after allegedly repeatedly attending the singer's performances, recording her, and even traveling to Ashdod in an attempt to meet her at the synagogue where she prays. After being questioned and released under a restraining order, he appeared at another of her concerts just hours later, sat in the front row, and filmed her, leading to a fresh arrest.
During the hearing, police representative Nir Malka presented a preliminary psychiatric evaluation stating that Levy poses no immediate risk. Nevertheless, police requested an extension of his detention to complete seven investigative steps, five of which could be compromised if he is released.
Defense Arguments and Ruling
His defense attorney argued that his actions might not constitute stalking or harassment, given that the complainant is a public figure active on social media. The lawyer also noted that the suspect claimed the restraining order conditions were not properly explained to him. While the judge rejected a request to suppress the suspect's name, he prohibited the publication of details regarding his medical and mental condition.
"This case certainly warrants release under conditions," Judge Roi Perri stated, emphasizing that the sole obstacle to his release was the absence of a suitable guarantor.
Yuval Dayan's Response
Singer Yuval Dayan addressed the incident on her Instagram account for the first time, writing:
"I assume you have heard what I am going through these days. The matter is being handled by the police, and I trust them, myself, and the Creator that everything will work out and my sense of security will return soon."
She added: "Despite being public figures, our personal space is entirely private. The feeling is complex, but it is important to remember that each of us has the choice and ability to decide what is appropriate and what crosses the line."
