The Sheba Medical Center has been ranked sixth in Newsweek's World's Best Smart Hospitals 2027 list, climbing three spots from the previous year. Sheba is the highest-ranked Israeli medical center on the list and the only Israeli hospital to secure a spot in the top ten.

Evaluation and Global Reach

The ranking, conducted in partnership with Statista, includes 350 hospitals across 30 countries. It focuses on the adoption of advanced technologies in medical practice, including artificial intelligence, robotics, telemedicine, digital imaging, and electronic health records. This is a separate ranking from Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals list, where Sheba holds the seventh position.

Sheba attributes its advancement to major initiatives, including the establishment of an artificial intelligence center with an investment of approximately 100 million shekels. The center develops and integrates AI applications in the healthcare system, collaborating with OpenAI. Additional developments include SmartER, a platform for medical teams equipped with AI tools, and remote patient monitoring systems.

Innovation and Leadership

The hospital's innovation arm, ARC, drives collaborative research with Mount Sinai's medical school and Nvidia, combining artificial intelligence and genomics. Concurrently, its global innovation network is expanding to Berlin and Boston, joining eight existing centers worldwide.

"An advanced healthcare system is a strategic infrastructure for national resilience, economic growth, and Israel's leadership in the international arena," stated Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, Director of the Sheba Medical Center.

Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, Chief Transformation and AI Officer and Director of ARC, added that a smart hospital is measured by its ability to integrate technologies into daily medical workflows to improve patient care.
