The chairman of the "Democrats" party, Yair Golan, turned today, Wednesday, to Deputy Supreme Court President Noam Solberg and Shin Bet chief David Zini with a request for personal security following an increase in threats. In his request, Golan listed several disturbing comments made on social media.

In response to a post by Sharon Gal, a user named Aryeh Mor wrote: "Yair Golan, I wonder what blood he has in his veins, a traitor, kapo, needs to stand trial and after that a bullet in the head." Another user identifying as Ventriloquist Guy wrote in response to a video about an Indonesian who refused to serve Israelis and called them "baby killers": "Why don't they eliminate Yair Golan?" On the same video, Yosef Bareli wrote: "Yair Golan, this is yours until the grave soon. May your name be blotted out."

In addition, in response to a post about a violent incident during the party's visit to Shor HaCarmel, a user named Judah Vazan wrote: "Break the bones of Yair Golan's traitors, Yair Golan, you are on the way, we will take out your eyes, you and your family will be erased, Yair Golan, the fucking traitor, you did a second Holocaust to the Jewish people, your sentence is hanging, you and your family, traitor, bastard, Yair Golan the traitor, this is only the beginning, the right will erase you, the end of the left has arrived, you and your families will be erased, Yair Golan the traitor, this is your end."

The party spokesperson stated: "The police have raised the threat assessment level for the chairman of the Democrats to level 4. The party demands security for Yair Golan against the background of the threats to his life."

Three days ago, the head of the "Yashar!" party headquarters, Ron Barkai, asked to secure the chairman, Gadi Eisenkot, a prominent candidate for victory against Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming elections.

The letter was sent following a previous request from July 20, which, according to Barkai, remained unanswered by the Shin Bet, while the police replied with a general letter that did not provide a practical response.

In the request sent, it was written that Eisenkot is secured solely by a private and unarmed security company on behalf of the party, "and this is based on our unlearned perception of the scope of the threats, and without the required intelligence information," they detailed.

Despite the repeated request, the party headquarters was told orally that it was decided that the Shin Bet would not secure Eisenkot.
