Minister of Communications Dr. Shlomo Karhi attacked the Supreme Court, claiming it is exceeding the powers of the government and the Knesset. "The Supreme Court is encroaching on the boundaries of the government and the Knesset. The answer must be sharp and clear: No!", he wrote.
Karhi called on the government to instruct the Minister of Defense to immediately implement its decision. According to him, "No one has made you superior to the people and their elected representatives." Later, the Minister of Communications also referred to the Speaker of the Knesset and questioned why he did not respond to the demand of 25 Knesset members to bring to a discussion the decision stating that the laws of the Knesset remain valid despite the Supreme Court.
Karhi added that if the government and the Knesset do not stand up to protect their honor and the honor of the people against "legal bullying," the public might grow tired of the "democratic show at the ballot box." He concluded his remarks: "But we are to blame… the matter is in our hands!"
