Ramat Gan Deputy Mayor Israel Zari Joins "Yashar!" Party
The chairman of the "Yashar!" party, former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, announced the addition of Ramat Gan Deputy Mayor Israel Zari to the party. Zari is recognized for his extensive municipal experience and advocacy for civil rights.
The chairman of the "Yashar!" party, former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, announced on Tuesday the addition of Ramat Gan Deputy Mayor Israel Zari to the party.
"Israel brings with him young, brave, and principled leadership, alongside municipal experience and activity to strengthen civic involvement among teenagers and young people. Together with him, we will continue to build honest, balanced, and connecting national leadership for all citizens of Israel," Eisenkot said regarding the new party member.
The official statement highlighted that Zari has dedicated his public and professional work to developing local government, promoting equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community, and expanding opportunities for youth.
Israel Zari's Background
Zari (36) is a graduate of the Argov leadership and diplomacy program at Reichman University. Throughout his career, he has served as a personal advisor to the Minister of Transport, spokesperson for the Ra'anana Municipality, and spokesperson for both the "Tzofim" (Scouts) movement and the Association for LGBTQ Equality in Israel.
In 2018, he was elected to the Ramat Gan City Council, becoming the city's first openly gay elected official. In 2024, he was appointed Deputy Mayor, the youngest in the city's history. As head of the Stock Exchange administration, he led renewal plans and social projects such as "Beit HaNetina" (House of Giving) for families in need and war victims.
Strengthening the "Yashar!" Team
Zari joins a growing list of prominent figures in the "Yashar!" party, including former Shin Bet head Yoram Cohen, senior economist Shaul Meridor, former minister Matan Kahana, and Major General (res.) Kamil Abu Rokon, among others.
Gadi Eisenkot emphasized the importance of this addition: "Israel represents the high-quality public leadership that the State of Israel needs right now. He is a valuable asset for our team, which will bring the change and correction required for the country."
Israel Zari stated: "The reality in Israel in 2026 requires us not to stand on the sidelines, but to take responsibility. Hatred and division in Israeli society are a real existential danger. I decided to join Gadi Eisenkot because I believe in honest, statesmanlike leadership that sees the good of all citizens and brings a true vision of hope and unity."
