Attorney Arbel Feldman murdered in Rishon Lezion: "Black flag"
Arbel Feldman’s family has authorized the publication of his identity following his murder yesterday in Rishon Lezion. The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of Ramle, surrendered to police during the manhunt and confessed to the shooting. In Tel Aviv, legal professionals held two minutes of silence in memory of Feldman and to protest against rising violence in Israeli society.
Attorney Arbel Feldman was murdered yesterday in Rishon Lezion, as his family authorized for publication this morning, Wednesday. It appears that his partner was the one who found him shot and summoned emergency services. The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of Ramle, surrendered to the Yam"R Lahish police unit during the height of the manhunt and admitted to the killing, stating: "I shot him."
Nitzav Amir Cohen, commander of the Central District Police, stated that the suspect is "a client who was dissatisfied with the service he received." The investigation is being conducted by the Yam"R Shfela unit, and the suspect is currently being questioned. Footage of the suspect entering the building just seconds before the shooting was released yesterday.
According to testimonies, the suspect rode the elevator armed with a pistol, entered the attorney’s office, opened fire in front of two people present, and then fled. Feldman’s partner testified: "The suspect entered the office, I heard explosions, and saw him lying down. After that, the suspect fled."
The Israel Bar Association reported that dozens of attorneys and staff members gathered this morning in the courtyard of the Tel Aviv District Court for two minutes of silence in memory of attorney Feldman and in protest against violence in Israeli society and toward the legal profession.
Attorney Amit Bechar, head of the Bar Association, said:
"We will not allow this heinous murder to pass as business as usual. Israeli society must set a clear boundary for violence and hatred. Today we raised a black flag—not only in memory of our colleague, but also as a clear call to protect the rule of law, the judicial system, and everyone who operates within it. We will not be deterred, and we will continue to fight so that attorneys can carry out their mission safely and without fear."
MDA paramedics Naftali Lebereshttat and Meir Binenfeld, who responded to the scene, stated:
"We received a report about a man injured in a violent incident. We arrived at the scene and joined the police forces. We found a man about 50 years old lying unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing, suffering from a penetrating injury. We carried out medical checks and, unfortunately, had to pronounce him dead at the scene."
