According to the Israel Airports Authority, the congestion is still ahead, as in August about 2.6 million passengers will pass through Ben Gurion Airport and 47 airlines will operate, including Israeli carriers. The most popular destination countries in August are Greece, Cyprus, Italy, the UAE, the USA, and Germany.
During the weekdays of August, between 90,000 and 95,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport daily. Furthermore, the Israel Airports Authority notes that five dates are expected to be particularly busy, most of them Thursdays: August 6, 13, 17, 20, and 27, when passenger volume will reach approximately 100,000 per day.
Following the congestion, the Israel Airports Authority reminds passengers to arrive at the airport 3 hours before the scheduled takeoff time, to check in in advance, to verify the terminal and updated flight times, and to use self-service kiosks for tagging and sending baggage. Passengers traveling with hand luggage only are invited to use the W area for quick passage.
"During the summer period, Ben Gurion Airport operates at particularly high activity levels, and there may be localized congestion and longer-than-usual waiting times at certain hours," the Israel Airports Authority stated.
