The drone is seen plummeting and exploding on the ground in an open area after the fighter jet approaches it. According to reports, the pilot utilized the aerodynamic wake produced by the jet to destabilize the drone without firing a single shot.
Simultaneously, the Russian army continues to bomb civilian targets across Ukraine. This evening, a shopping center in the city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, was attacked. At least 14 people were killed and 121 injured, including 22 children. The head of the military administration in Kryvyi Rih stated that the rescue operation is complex and the casualty count may continue to rise.
Volodymyr Zelensky described the attack as a "double tap," where a second wave of drones struck the site while rescue teams were already present. "Such attacks are an act of terrorism," Zelensky wrote on social media, promising that his country "will certainly respond" to the strike.
About a day earlier, Russia bombarded Kyiv and its surroundings with ballistic missiles, killing 16 people and injuring about 40. Vladimir Putin's army is exploiting Ukraine's acute shortage of "Patriot" interceptor missiles, leaving most ballistic threats unintercepted. Additionally, a Russian drone struck a civilian minibus in Kherson the day before yesterday, killing four people.
In response, Ukraine continues to target oil refineries and terminals deep within Russia, a campaign Zelensky calls "long-term sanctions." Tonight, Kyiv used drones to strike a refinery in the city of Perm, over 1,600 km from the border. There are also reports of an attack on the "Marinovka" military base in the Volgograd region.
The Ukrainian campaign to bring the war to the Russian home front is taking its toll as the fuel crisis worsens. Reuters reported that gas stations in Moscow have re-imposed restrictions on gasoline and diesel sales. Russia has officially confirmed for the first time that it has begun importing fuel from abroad. Major companies, including Gazprom Neft, Rosneft, and Lukoil, have implemented fuel purchase limits across the country due to "increased demand" and supply shortages.
