The Democrats party criticized this morning (Monday) the decision to postpone to today the discussion on the security of party chairman Yair Golan, after the advisory committee for the protection of public figures recommended yesterday to provide security to the chairman of the Yashar! party, Gadi Eisenkot. It is important to emphasize that a final decision regarding Golan has not yet been made.

In the party's statement, it was claimed that the decision to provide security at this stage only to Eisenkot stems from political considerations.

"The decision to provide security to Gadi Eisenkot and in the same breath to abandon the security of The Democrats chairman Yair Golan reveals the truth: the considerations are political," it was stated.

However, contrary to the party's claim, the committee did not decide not to provide security to Golan. The discussion regarding him was postponed from yesterday to today, and only at its conclusion is a decision expected on whether to provide him with security. Yesterday, the committee recommended granting Eisenkot special and continuous security until election day, following warnings and new findings provided by his party members to security officials.

In The Democrats, they claimed that two of the three committee members are political appointees of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and that the avoidance of immediate approval of security for Golan allows, according to them, the continuation of the campaign of incitement and delegitimization against him.

"The responsibility for the security and life of Yair Golan lies with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini," the party stated.

The Democrats further threatened that if a decision is not made to grant Golan security, they will petition the Supreme Court with a demand to compel the relevant authorities to do so.

In an appeal submitted by the party ahead of the discussion, it was claimed that a campaign of incitement has been conducted against Golan for months, including death wishes, calls to place him before a firing squad, and threats against his family members as well. Seven publications distributed in July and August on Facebook, X, and Telegram were attached to the appeal.
