The target is Ofer Winter: Netanyahu's coalition sends a message to right-wing voters

Knesset member Zvi Sukkot was interviewed this morning (Thursday) on 103FM, addressing the expected entry of Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter into politics, where he is anticipated to establish a new party. "Winter does not threaten us; he is a good and nice person. However, another party on this seamline is something that endangers the right-wing bloc. It is an irresponsible thing to do," he criticized.

He further added:

"In the end, we want a right-wing government to be established here; it is an existential matter. I hope that when we reach the submission of the lists, right-wing voters will be clear-headed enough not to vote for adventures that will endanger the entire bloc."

He expressed concern regarding the situation of the right-wing bloc ahead of the elections: "We are not boycotting anyone. The question of how to run is not only a question of values but also of how to maximize the bloc's votes and how to bring victory to the bloc in the elections. Usually, things are settled at the last minute; there is no ego here, no issue of specifically giving a place to this person or another. The issue is how to bring maximum votes to the right-wing bloc and, ultimately, people who know how to work and deliver results."

As mentioned, numerous signs hung across the country are arousing interest in the political system and hinting at a possible move by Winter. The signs feature the inscription "Soon you will have someone to vote for" in purple, alongside the date August 25 — next Tuesday.

The purple color is identified with the Givati Brigade, which Winter commanded in the past. Against the background of his progress toward a political move, the signs raise the possibility that this is a preparation for an announcement of a new party.

In the Likud, they are following with concern the possibility of an independent run by Winter. The main fear is that a party led by him will draw votes from the Likud and other right-wing parties but will struggle to pass the electoral threshold, thus harming the entire bloc.

This fear was also reflected this week in polls that examined, for the first time, the scenario of an independent run by Winter and pointed to the potential for damage to the bloc's parties. Now, the signs add another indication that the political move may be approaching the announcement stage.
