Israeli Police Seek to Extend Restrictions on Kfar Saba Mayor in Corruption Probe
Police will ask a court to extend restrictions on Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Sa'ar and his wife amid a corruption, bribery, and money laundering investigation.

Israeli police are expected to ask the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court on Sunday to extend restrictive conditions for Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Sa'ar and his wife, Meital Sa'ar, as part of a high-profile corruption investigation. Investigators from the Lahav 433 national fraud unit (YAHAK) report gathering substantial evidence indicating the mayor was aware of funds and luxury vehicles allegedly provided to his wife by local business figures.
The case centers on suspicions of bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and money laundering. According to sources close to the investigation, police have uncovered significant material linking Rafi Sa'ar to the financial streams and luxury cars, including Audi and Tesla vehicles used by the couple. Investigators are scrutinizing whether these assets correlate with municipal decisions made by the mayor.
Defense attorneys firmly reject the allegations, maintaining that the couple keeps separate bank accounts and financial records. Lawyer Micha Fettman, representing the mayor, stressed that no evidence establishes any illicit financial gains by his client. The upcoming court hearing will address the necessity of prolonging restrictions, including non-contact orders and municipal suspension, as the investigation continues.
