The social organization "HaMerhav HaHeveri" has officially taken over the management of Jerusalem's First Station complex, launching a series of community events to revitalize the historic site. On Tuesday, coinciding with the 26th Knesset elections, the complex will host family-friendly activities, including a pop-up by pastry chef Or Shpitz and a local business fair.

In recent years, the First Station faced severe challenges, with numerous businesses closing due to disruptive infrastructure works conducted by Israel Railways for the high-speed Tel Aviv line extension and the upcoming Jerusalem-HaN station, alongside light rail construction. These combined factors transformed the vibrant hub into a nearly deserted area, particularly during weekends.

The new management aims to restore the complex to its former glory, ensuring regular operations during weekends and holidays. Municipal officials in Jerusalem stated that the upcoming events mark the beginning of a sustained effort to bring back residents and recreate the site's atmosphere as a premier leisure destination.

"For anyone who has already written off the First Station in Jerusalem, think again," the organization noted in a recent statement. "We are opening a new chapter at the complex with plenty of ideas, cultural content, community spirit, and great people."
