Jerusalem Court Rules Mother of Murder Defendant Will Remain in Custody
The Jerusalem District Court ruled that Linor Sasson, mother of a murder defendant, will remain in detention. Sasson faces charges of accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice in the Binyahu Razi case.
The Jerusalem District Court ruled on Tuesday that Linor Sasson will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings. Sasson, 46, is the mother of one of the defendants in the high-profile murder case of the late Binyahu Razi. While she is not charged with the murder itself, the court upheld the prosecution's position that sufficient preliminary evidence exists to try her for accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice.
Legal Proceedings and Detentions
According to the indictment, Sasson drove the suspects to the apartment where the murder took place, though she reportedly asked them along the way not to commit any illegal acts. She is further accused of helping the perpetrators flee the scene. The court ordered the Probation Service to submit a comprehensive assessment report within 30 days, scheduling the next hearing for October 22.
Meanwhile, the main murder trial has yet to begin. Four juvenile defendants, along with two other adult defendants, Agam Tzarfati and Shilat Chuta, remain behind bars as their respective legal teams review the evidentiary materials. Defense attorneys representing Tzarfati and Chuta announced their intention to contest the existence of prima facie evidence for the murder charges during upcoming hearings scheduled for mid-October.
"We want to focus primarily on challenging the existence of preliminary evidence," said Adv. Omri Stern, representing Agam Tzarfati. "It will take another month or so, and only then will we discuss the possibility of ordering a probation report."
