Israel Braces for Heavy Rain, Coastal Flooding, and Colder Weather
Israel's Meteorological Service warns of heavy rain, coastal flooding, and flash floods starting late Friday and continuing through Saturday, bringing unseasonably cold weather across the country.

Rainfall is set to intensify across Israel overnight and throughout Saturday, with the Meteorological Service warning of potential flooding in coastal cities and flash floods in eastern desert streams.
Precipitation during Friday was concentrated primarily in the eastern regions rather than the coast. The highest accumulation was recorded in Mevo Hama in the southern Golan Heights with 13 millimeters, followed by Ashdod with 10 millimeters. Similar quantities were measured in Eshchar in the Lower Galilee, Alonei Abba near Yokneam, and Mevo Dotan in the northwestern Samaria. Meanwhile, Jerusalem and Haifa received 4 millimeters of rain, while the Gush Dan metropolitan area recorded no precipitation.
According to meteorological forecasts, conditions will shift significantly during the late night hours and early Saturday morning. Rain is expected to reach the northern, central, and particularly southern coastal plains, bringing substantial precipitation throughout Saturday.
Authorities warn that heavy downpours could trigger urban flooding in coastal cities, with a strong emphasis on the central and southern coastal regions. Localized flash floods are also anticipated in the streams of the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea basin. Strong westerly winds will prevail across most regions on Saturday, accompanied by unseasonably cold temperatures.
Unsettled weather will persist into Sunday, with below-average temperatures and localized showers continuing in the northern and central regions. Precipitation is expected to gradually taper off and subside by Sunday afternoon. Monday will remain unseasonably cool, though no further rainfall is anticipated.
