A 23-year-old cleaning worker from Jerusalem has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into an apartment in the city and stealing jewelry and valuables worth approximately 600,000 shekels. The investigation is being handled by the Lev HaBira police station. Despite the arrest and a search conducted at the suspect's home, the stolen property has yet to be recovered. A second cleaning worker has also been detained on suspicion of acting as an accomplice.

The primary suspect vehemently denies breaking into the apartment or stealing any items. This denial comes despite testimony from a neighbor who stated she recognized him and claimed he openly admitted to the theft. During questioning, the suspect offered an explanation for his statement:

«I told her that out of panic, so she wouldn't think I was a terrorist. I did not steal anything and I did not break into any apartment in the building.»

  • Forensic evidence: Police seized the suspect's shoes to compare them with footprints found at the crime scene.

  • Court proceedings: The suspect was brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court, where police representatives stated that investigators possess evidence implicating him in the burglary.

The judge granted the police request and extended the suspect's detention by two days as the investigation continues.
