Police arrested the primary suspect in the August 28 murder of 28-year-old Jaffa resident Ahmed Shukra at the Jordan River border crossing on Sunday. The suspect, a man in his twenties from Jaffa, had fled to Jordan following the daylight shooting on Jerusalem Boulevard and was the subject of an ongoing manhunt.

According to the investigation, Shukra was riding his bicycle on Jerusalem Boulevard when a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up. An assailant emerged from the vehicle, shot Shukra multiple times with a handgun, and fled the scene. Shukra was rushed to the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon in critical condition, where medical teams pronounced him dead after unsuccessful resuscitation efforts.

Tel Aviv District Commander, Superintendent Haim Sargrof, arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting to conduct a situational assessment and assigned the case to the Central Investigation Unit (YAMAR). Utilizing advanced technological tools, YAMAR detectives arrested two other Jaffa residents in their twenties just hours after the attack. During the arrest, one of the suspects discarded a loaded firearm, which was subsequently recovered by detectives, along with the vehicle allegedly used in the murder.

While indictments have already been filed against the two initial suspects following the compilation of substantial evidence, the primary suspect remained at large in Jordan until his return on Sunday. Following his arrest at the border crossing, he was transferred to YAMAR Tel Aviv offices for interrogation and is scheduled to appear at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Monday for a remand hearing.
