Police Solve Jaffa Murder of Ahmad Shakra, Indictments Expected Soon
Israel Police solved the murder of 28-year-old Ahmad Shakra in Jaffa, announcing that indictments will soon be filed against two suspects arrested in Holon.
The Israel Police announced on Wednesday that it has solved the murder of 28-year-old Ahmad Shakra, which took place last month in Jaffa. A prosecutor's statement was submitted to the court against two local residents, and an indictment for their involvement in the murder is expected to be filed in the coming days.
The incident occurred on August 28. Shakra was riding an electric bicycle on Jerusalem Boulevard in the city. At a certain point, a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up beside him, a person got out, shot him several times, and fled the scene.
Shakra was critically injured and evacuated to Wolfson Medical Center, where medical staff were forced to pronounce him dead following resuscitation efforts. Police forces that arrived at the scene collected evidence and launched searches to locate the shooters.
Just hours after the murder, two suspects in their 20s involved in the act were located. The two were arrested while hiding in an apartment in Holon. During their arrest, one of them threw a loaded Glock pistol out of the window. Detectives seized the weapon and also located the Jeep used in the murder.
Following the formulation of an evidentiary foundation against the two detainees by investigators of the Tel Aviv District Central Unit, a prosecutor's statement was submitted. The State Attorney's Office intends to file the indictment in the coming days, alongside a request to extend their detention until the end of legal proceedings.
