IDF Grenade Explodes in Kfar Shmaryahu Amid Spate of Incidents

An IDF fragmentation grenade exploded overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday in Kfar Shmaryahu, prompting a police investigation. Emergency services received reports of a blast, and sappers were dispatched to collect evidence. Police confirmed the incident is criminal in nature. This marks the second time within a week that a grenade has been thrown on the same street, home to several prominent business figures. In the previous incident, a non-detonating IDF stun grenade was used. According to sources close to the investigation, which is being handled by the Tel Aviv Central Unit (YAMAR), authorities have not yet identified the intended target.
Meanwhile, police arrested a 24-year-old resident of the village of Sulam in the Jezreel Valley on suspicion of possessing a stolen IDF grenade in Afula. Last Friday, a suspect was spotted lingering in the backyard of a residential building in the Upper Afula neighborhood, where a concealed stolen IDF fragmentation grenade and related evidence were subsequently discovered. The Nazareth Magistrate's Court extended his remand until September 23.
In a separate incident early Tuesday morning, a grenade was thrown at a residence in Or Akiva. There were no injuries reported, though several vehicles sustained damage. Police have launched an investigation, suspecting a criminal motive behind the attack as circumstances continue to be examined.
