Israeli airline Arkia operated its first direct flight from Tel Aviv to Madeira, the Portuguese island group in the Atlantic Ocean. The flight was operated in partnership with Millennium, opening a direct connection for Israeli travelers.
The flight to Madeira is operated using an Arkia Airbus A321 aircraft, with a direct flight duration from Tel Aviv of approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes. Landing takes place at Madeira International Airport, named after football star Cristiano Ronaldo, who was born and raised in Funchal, the island's capital.
The airport in Madeira is considered a unique and operationally challenging airfield, requiring flight crews to undergo specialized professional training. Ahead of the launch, Arkia pilots successfully completed the required training.
Initially, Arkia plans to operate three direct flights to Madeira in cooperation with Millennium. Later on, the company plans to expand operations and offer additional flights to the destination, open for booking to the Israeli public.
