The IDF announced on Thursday that forces targeted the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip earlier this week, eliminating Ismail Ibrahim Darwish Qandil, a Nukhba terrorist within the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization. The terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory and participated in the killing of the Nahal Brigade commander, Colonel Yonatan Steinberg, during the October 7 massacre. Recently, the terrorist advanced terror plots against IDF forces and Israeli citizens, working to rebuild the organization's capabilities while systematically violating the ceasefire. He was eliminated to remove the threat he posed. Colonel Yonatan Steinberg fell in an encounter with a terrorist near Kerem Shalom. Steinberg, 42, from Kibbutz Shomriya, was en route to an exchange of fire conducted by his subordinates with terrorists when he encountered infiltrating terrorists on the morning of October 7, fighting them until he fell in battle.
