The Shadow against Yair Golan: "Instead of him standing trial, they let him run for the Knesset"
The musician Yoav Eliassi spoke out sharply against the chairman of the "Democrats" party following a quote published in the British newspaper "The Telegraph", and claimed that these statements cause enormous damage to the image of the State of Israel in the world.

Rapper Yoav Eliassi, known by his stage name "The Shadow" (HaTzel), often expresses his views on issues that receive widespread public and media discourse in Israel. Against the backdrop of the upcoming elections and the propaganda campaigns of Israeli parties, Eliassi criticized politician Yair Golan, who serves as chairman of the "Democrats" party.
In a post he published on his Instagram account, the well-known musician presented a quote that was apparently published in the British newspaper "The Telegraph", stating that the rival of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "Israel kills children as a hobby". Alongside the image he presented on the social network, Eliassi wrote:
"The headline in the British Telegraph, a newspaper with more than 11 million followers on the networks: 'Israel kills children as a hobby'. Instead of the person who said this sentence, and who perhaps committed the greatest public relations attack against Israel, standing before the court of public opinion and giving answers for the damage he caused to the state, they allow him to run for the Knesset. Then they ask how the world quotes the blood libels against Israel again and again. When these statements come from an Israeli politician and general, who needs enemies when there are such people among us".
As recalled, in May 2025, Yair Golan referred in an interview on the program "HaBoker HaZeh" on Kan Reshet Bet to the war in Gaza and said that "a sane country does not kill babies as a hobby". The chairman of the "Democrats" party explained his words:
"Israel is on the way to becoming a pariah state among nations, like South Africa of the past, if it does not return and conduct itself as a sane country. A sane country does not conduct warfare against civilians, does not kill babies as a hobby, and does not set itself goals of population expulsion".
He further added that "these things are simply shocking, and it cannot be that we, the children of the Jewish people, who were subjected to persecutions and pogroms and acts of annihilation throughout our history, and who served throughout history as a beacon of human and Jewish morality, we are the ones who are taking steps that are simply unacceptable".
