Elbit Systems subsidiary FUSE unveiled an advanced portfolio of AI-driven autonomous ground and aerial military systems. Backed by over a million operational hours, the technology enables large-scale coordinated combat, logistics, and swarm operations.

The battlefields of science fiction are becoming reality as the IDF, closely observing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, recognizes the urgent need to build a robotic military force. Central to this transformation is the deployment of autonomous armored combat vehicles, strike systems, drones, and logistical units designed to operate independently, utilizing AI-driven systems to manage key aspects of both defensive and offensive combat operations.

FUSE, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, unveiled a diverse portfolio of autonomous weapon systems developed and manufactured by the company. These systems are capable of executing ground and aerial combat missions through integrated robotics. In recent engagements in the Ukraine-Russia conflict, Ukrainian forces successfully captured territory utilizing operations conducted entirely through autonomous systems and weaponry.

AI-Powered Unified Operating Systems

The systems unveiled by Elbit rely on a unified AI-powered operating system that enables synchronized, large-scale coordination of autonomous swarms and distributed arrays of aerial and ground platforms. According to Elbit, FUSE delivers combat-proven military autonomous systems designed for large-scale, highly survivable multi-domain operations, combining operational experience with Elbit Systems' extensive advanced manufacturing infrastructure.

FUSE solutions have accumulated over one million operational flight hours and more than 100,000 hours of autonomous ground operations, with thousands of platforms supplied to global customers.

Ground and Aerial Autonomous Capabilities

The showcase featured capabilities ranging from logistical convoys and casualty evacuation using autonomous trucks and vehicles to tactical maneuver systems comprising large fleets equipped with armaments spanning personal weapons, squad-level firearms, and heavier weaponry. Alongside terrestrial capabilities, the robotic battlefield features an expansive drone array with flight ranges exceeding 100 kilometers.

Certain platforms are capable of transporting essential combat supplies, with drones recently parachuting blood units deep into the field for the IDF. Additional drone capabilities include loitering munition swarms, missile-dropping drones, and kamikaze suicide drones, all operating under artificial intelligence control.

Advanced Portfolio and Global Deployment

FUSE solutions are engineered to operate in challenging GNSS-denied environments, supporting complex tactical missions, distributed autonomous operations, and Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) alongside maneuvering forces and crewed platforms within existing command and control frameworks.

The FUSE portfolio includes:

  1. Unmanned Tactical Force (UTF): A fully digital unmanned tactical force designed for large-scale reconnaissance and strike missions.

  2. PIRANI-X: Tactical drone swarms designed for maneuvering forces to conduct reconnaissance and strikes.

  3. Urban Lethality Systems: Combat systems comprising Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) and One-Way Attack (OWA) drones optimized for built-up areas and fortified compounds.

  4. Armored Wingman Systems: Unmanned ground and aerial assets operating alongside or launched from crewed armored platforms.

  5. Border Defense Systems: Mobile and stationary unmanned ground and aerial solutions securing vast perimeters with minimal operator intervention.

  6. Multi-Mission Group 1 and 2 Uncrewed Aircraft Systems: Backpack-portable, rapidly deployable multi-rotor VTOL platforms including THOR, Magni-X, and X-intra, tailored for reconnaissance, target acquisition, communications relay, electronic warfare support, and resupply.

  7. Ground Autonomy Systems: AI-driven hardware and software solutions providing full autonomous control for UGVs and crewed platforms, remote control capabilities, and advanced visual positioning systems.

FUSE solutions are already operationally deployed and in service with customers in Israel, the United States, and Europe, supporting ongoing operational missions and military modernization programs.
