Likud farce: Decision made to recount votes without informing Gila Gamliel
Advocate Hovav Damri, husband of the minister who fears for her realistic spot, testified before the party's election committee. However, it turns out that even before the hearing, it was decided to recount the votes at the polling station in Be'er Ya'akov.
The saga in Likud continues to unfold with new developments: Advocate Hovav Damri, husband of MK Gila Gamliel, is currently petitioning before the party's election committee against the backdrop of suspected irregularities in the vote count. However, it turns out that while Damri was testifying, it had already been decided two hours before the hearing to recount the polling station in Be'er Ya'akov, which is at the center of the dispute, without Damri being updated about it at all.
Gamliel fears that due to the recount she will be pushed to an unrealistic spot, and the one who will take her place in the 25th spot (reserved for women) is MK Eti Atiya, who is close to the minister and Likud Central Committee Chairman Haim Katz. Gamliel filed a complaint with the police alleging forgery in the vote count.
"This is a criminal event."
From the protocol of the hearing held last week at the party's election committee, it appears that the discussion was very stormy. In addition, an affidavit submitted by the polling station chairman contradicts the security company's claim and raises the question of whether the ballot box was opened again without the approval of the election committee.
The hearing was opened by the party's acting CEO David Sharan, who said he received from several sources "a great many complaints about what happened in Be'er Ya'akov". Later, Yaron Lavi from the Reshef company, which secured the election day in the Likud primaries, explained that Sharan told him: "Stop the count, I want the election committee, I closed the polling station."
Lavi's claim that he counted the polling station does not align with an affidavit submitted by the polling committee chairman, who declared that at the time of opening the ballot box, only members of the election committee, observers, and an attorney on behalf of Likud were present. Later, the discussion heated up. Likud election committee member Shevah Stern said: "If there is a suspicion of criminal activity, turn to the authorities that deal with criminal matters, do not sweep it under the rug."
Election committee member David Peretz replied to him: "If in the new count the results are as they were broadcast, you will receive 270 affidavits from people who claim they did not vote for Sasson Guetta and Gila Gamliel; therefore, the conclusion is that someone looked at the form, threw it in the trash, and put a new one." Advocate Ilan Bombach said: "If there are such affidavits, this is a different event." David Peretz replied: "This is a criminal event."
