"Forgery and concealment by deception": Gila Gamliel files police complaint over vote recount

Knesset member Gila Gamliel filed a police complaint on Wednesday regarding the decision to recount votes at Likud polling stations in Be'er Ya'akov. The complaint was filed against David Sharan, CEO of Likud, MK Haim Katz, and the Reshef Security firm.

Katz responded to the move via his X social media account:

"If anyone has complaints, here is the address: Ofek Park, Northern Industrial Zone, Pesach Lev 1, Lod," referring to the headquarters of the Lahav 433 unit.

The Likud party announced yesterday that it would conduct a recount of the polling stations in Be'er Ya'akov. This follows MK Gila Gamliel's petition to the party's Supreme Court seeking an injunction against opening the ballot box. She claims that the recount could push her into the fourth ten of the Likud list, allowing Eti Atiya to take her 25th spot.

In her petition, Gamliel argues that the Likud Central Election Committee's decision to open ballot box no. 101101 could cause her direct and immediate harm as a candidate in the primaries. Gamliel has asked the court to prohibit the opening of the box until the merits of the petition are decided. Alternatively, she requests that any recount be conducted in an equal and comprehensive manner at all polling stations nationwide where irregularities are suspected, rather than targeting only Be'er Ya'akov.

According to Gamliel, "the count was contaminated." The petition claims that the ballot boxes from Be'er Ya'akov remained in the possession of Likud management for eight days after they had already been counted and the results uploaded to the database, while the election results were already public. The petition states that this delay "creates a real and serious concern for the integrity of the ballot boxes."
