Within minutes: Court rejects Likud legal advisor's request

The District Court rejected earlier today, Thursday, the urgent request of Likud legal advisor, Adv. Ilan Bombach, to advance the hearing on MK Abed's petition to this coming Sunday, amid the dispute surrounding the Likud primaries.

In the request submitted to the court, Bombach argued that a quick decision is necessary due to the tight schedule ahead of the primaries, which are scheduled for August 17. According to him, the ongoing uncertainty could harm the movement's preparations on organizational, logistical, legal, and budgetary levels.

Bombach warned in his filing that "every additional day that the dispute remains unresolved increases the risk that uncertainty will descend into chaos, harmful to all involved and carrying an enormous economic cost." It was further claimed that the delay could jeopardize Likud's ability to modify the format of the primaries.

However, just minutes later, the District Court rejected the request to advance the hearing. Following the decision, the hearing date remains unchanged at this stage, while Likud officials warn that continued delays could make it difficult to hold the primaries on time.
