Ed Sheeran is facing intense backlash not only from the music community but also from his own family, following the controversial removal of rapper Macklemore from the LOOP Tour. Jethro Sheeran, the 44-year-old cousin of the British pop star, launched a scathing attack on Facebook, branding the singer a "coward" and a "bad person."
Family Feud and Past Grievances
The public outburst comes after Macklemore was dropped from the upcoming US dates of the tour following a pro-Palestinian speech during a concert in New Jersey. While Ed Sheeran has vehemently denied any involvement in the decision, insisting it was made by venues and producers, his cousin claims this reflects the singer's true character.
"Everything is finally coming out. I am ashamed of my cousin Ed and what he did. Finally, the world and all his fans see who he is," Jethro wrote, adding that he considers him selfish and malicious.
Jethro also aired previous grievances, recalling a dispute over their 2010 collaboration "Raise Em Up." According to Jethro, Ed's legal team at Warner Music threatened him with a lawsuit after he attempted to use the track to support his daughter's fledgling music career.
The Macklemore Controversy
Macklemore was removed from the tour lineup nearly a week ago, prompting other supporting acts to withdraw in solidarity. Ed Sheeran released a statement explaining that major venues threatened cancellations due to the rapper's stage remarks.
"Venues for upcoming tour dates announced they would cancel the shows if he continued to support, and the decision was ultimately up to the producers," Sheeran stated, emphasizing that he tried to bridge the gap and find a compromise without success.
