Drama in Pennsylvania: Mother and children locked themselves in the bathroom while a burglar broke into the house
A Pennsylvania resident called the police from the bathroom where she had locked herself with her young children while the burglar was in the kitchen. Police officers arrested the suspect as he left the house without resistance.
A nerve-wracking drama unfolded on Monday afternoon in the town of East Norriton, Pennsylvania, USA, when a mother was forced to lock herself and her young children in an upstairs bathroom while an unknown person broke into their home.
According to a report by CBS News, the woman rushed to dial 911 around 1:45 PM after noticing a man attempting to force open a side door. She remained on the line with the dispatcher and described in real-time how the burglar managed to break into the house and enter the kitchen. Police forces summoned to the scene confronted the suspect, Juan Medina, just as he was leaving the house. Medina was arrested without resistance, and there were no injuries in the incident.
Serious indictment and suspicion of a series of burglaries
Medina was brought before a judge, who set his cash bail at $50,000. Unable to pay the amount, he was remanded into custody.
According to reports on The Newport Dispatch website, a serious indictment was filed against Medina, including burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and other charges related to theft and receiving stolen property. A preliminary hearing in his case is scheduled for September 8, 2026.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Medina was carrying property suspected to be stolen from a vehicle parked at a nearby house on the same street. The owner of the second property confirmed to investigators that her vehicle had been broken into.
Police Detective Christopher Schwartz called on area residents to check their home security cameras:
"We are looking for any footage of this person, or anyone who returned home and discovered that items were missing from their vehicle."
