Dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters in the German Colony in Haifa

Several dozen pro-Palestinian protesters gathered this evening (Thursday) in the German Colony in Haifa, at the corner of Ben Gurion Boulevard and Allenby Street, following a long period during which similar demonstrations did not take place there. The protesters carried signs in Arabic, Hebrew, and English and chanted a series of slogans against Israel's policy and the war.

Among other things, the protesters chanted "From the sea to the river, Palestine will be free," "From the river to the sea, Israel spills blood," "Netanyahu you pig, the Arab blood is not cheap," and "Gaza do not despair, we will end the occupation." They also called for an end to the war in Gaza and Israel's activities in the West Bank, in Lebanon, and in Syria.

The protesters also demonstrated against what they call "police violence and political persecution" within the Green Line, and called for the release of prisoners. Among the slogans heard at the demonstration were also "Free the prisoners and imprison the ministers" and "The murders will not help, the prison walls will be broken."

Police forces were deployed near the protesters, and later dozens of police vehicles arrived in the area. At this stage, there were no reports of clashes or arrests as part of the demonstration.

Similar demonstrations have taken place in the German Colony in the past, often ending in confrontations with the police. In July of last year, the police arrested 24 pro-Palestinian protesters who gathered at the site in protest against the IDF's activities in Gaza. A force of dozens of police officers was deployed in the area even before the start of the protest, and later the police dispersed the protesters. The police claimed at the time that the protesters did not obey the officers' instructions, while the Adalah organization claimed the use of force and selective enforcement.
