The move comes after weeks in which Gantz conducted intensive negotiations with Yuli Edelstein, who ultimately chose to join Erdan's party. Despite the alliance between Erdan and Edelstein, the Unity party is not passing the electoral threshold in recent polls, a figure that has likely led to the renewal of contacts with Blue and White.
The central motivation for the merger stems from the difficulty of the third-bloc parties to establish themselves electorally, as they continue to split without ensuring their entry into the Knesset.
