In a Facebook post written on Monday, Maayan Sherman, mother of the fallen hostage Ron Sherman, warned of a civil war that could break out if the current government loses the upcoming elections. She claimed that the voters of the current coalition, as well as its ministers, would not accept a defeat peacefully and would lead to clashes in the streets.

"Civil war," Sherman began. "Let's say that somehow they manage to overcome all the fraud at the polling stations and the prevention of voting by the elderly, as well as high-tech workers and doctors living abroad. Let's say the Eisenkot-Bennett-Golan government receives the most votes."

"How will the voters of the 'government of destruction' accept this?" the grieving mother continued. "Is there a possible scenario where Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, for example, will vacate his office and hand it over to Yair Golan? Does the possibility that Tali Gottlieb will pack her bags and finally leave our lives even exist?" Sherman also questioned how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would react: "Will he be silent and leave with his head bowed, or will he give a sign to his voters to start an event?"

Sherman argued that if the election results lead to a government led by Eisenkot, Bennett, and Golan, their opponents will riot. "This will not be a fratricidal war because we have long since not been brothers. But this could be a civil war," she concluded.

Just two days ago, Maayan Sherman wrote that her daughter, Eden, is enlisting for combat service in three months. "I hereby announce: if this government remains, I am pulling her out of there and I will ensure that other mothers do the same," she added.

About a month ago, Ron's father, Alex Sherman, published a message highlighting a hateful comment directed at his wife. This followed harsh reactions to Maayan calling government supporters "baboons," which led to a wave of online abuse against her.

Ron Sherman was killed while in captivity along with Nik Beizer and Elia Toledano, due to a "side effect" of an IDF airstrike during the elimination of the Hamas northern brigade commander, Ahmed Randour, as reported by the army at the time.
