New Suspect Arrested in Caesarea Mafia Boss Murder Investigation
Israeli police arrested a new suspect in the Caesarea murder of Caucasus mafia boss Janis Yushbayev, who was shot dead at a gas station last month.
Police announced the arrest of an additional suspect today, Tuesday, in connection with the murder in Caesarea last month.
According to the police statement, officers from the Coastal District Central Unit apprehended the suspect. Investigators plan to request an extension of his detention in court as the investigation continues.
Last month, on August 23, 2026, 45-year-old Janis Yushbayev from Or Akiva, described as a head of the Caucasus mafia, was shot dead at a gas station near Caesarea. Yushbayev was considered a prominent and high-risk intelligence target for the Hadera police and the Coastal District Central Unit.
Police assess that the gunman wore a tight-fitting mask to appear older and may have traveled from abroad to carry out the assassination. Investigators suspect he was aided by an accomplice who posed as a diner at a nearby restaurant.
