Bitcoin ETFs End Week with Positive Inflows as Ethereum Funds See Outflows
U.S. Bitcoin ETFs finished the week with positive inflows driven by a Friday rebound, while Ethereum funds recorded net withdrawals, ending a four-week positive streak.

Cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds displayed a divergence between the two leading digital assets last week, as U.S. Bitcoin ETFs finished with positive inflows while Ethereum products recorded net withdrawals.
Bitcoin ETFs Recover on Friday Spurt
According to on-chain data, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs registered an inflow of approximately $433 million on Friday. This rebound followed outflows of roughly $450.3 million on Tuesday and $296 million on Wednesday, meaning the entire recovery occurred during the final trading day of the week.
Fidelity’s FBTC fund drove a significant portion of Friday's surge, attracting around $310.7 million of the daily total, while BlackRock's IBIT added roughly $108.4 million. Over the entire week, IBIT led with net inflows of about $120.7 million, compared to $79.9 million for FBTC. Other Bitcoin funds combined recorded an outflow of roughly $194.4 million, keeping the net weekly result close to zero.
Ethereum Breaks Four-Week Positive Streak
In contrast, spot Ethereum ETFs experienced an outflow of about $140 million for the week ending September 18. This ended a four-week positive streak that had brought a combined $1.94 billion into these funds. Even Friday's influx of roughly $143.8 million failed to erase earlier weekly losses.
The declines in Ethereum funds occurred primarily across three consecutive trading sessions from Tuesday to Thursday, during which approximately $404.8 million was withdrawn. BlackRock's ETHA fund pulled in about $114.3 million on Friday, yet finished the week with a net outflow of roughly $56.1 million. Fidelity's FETH fund similarly posted a negative weekly result, losing about $25.8 million despite a Friday inflow of $26.2 million.
"The latest figures do not indicate a wholesale abandonment of Ethereum by institutional investors, but rather highlight shifting short-term preferences amid broader market volatility."
Trading Volumes Rise Across Both Markets
Despite the diverging fund flows, trading volumes demonstrated growing interest in both digital assets. Trading volume for Bitcoin ETFs reached approximately $16.17 billion last week, up from $8.77 billion the previous week. Ethereum funds recorded a volume of about $6.82 billion, compared to $5.14 billion earlier.
As of Friday, Ethereum ETFs remained in a positive net inflow of roughly $922 million year-to-date, with total assets under management reaching approximately $16.72 billion. Meanwhile, cumulative inflows for Bitcoin ETFs since launch stood at about $55.16 billion, with total assets valued at roughly $102.53 billion.
