Maccabi Haifa suffered a crushing 4-0 home defeat against Maccabi Netanya at Sammy Ofer Stadium, prompting head coach Barak Bakhar to announce his resignation immediately after the final whistle.

The heavy loss marks Haifa's third consecutive defeat, following a 5-1 thrashing by Hapoel Beersheba and a loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv, sending mounting pressure through the club as furious fans chanted for both Bakhar and sporting director Lior Refaelov to step down.

Tensions reached a boiling point when club owner Yaakov Shahar descended to the locker room, while players initially refused to speak with the media. Bakhar eventually addressed the press in tears, confirming his departure.

"I informed Yaakov Shahar that I am resigning. This moment is very difficult for me, but the club needs a fresh start and new blood. I tried everything to lift this team, but unfortunately, it simply did not work out."

Tensions on the pitch also boiled over during the match when Tsuf Mayami and Yarin Levi clashed after a substitution, highlighting the severe internal pressure gripping the struggling squad.
