Following Raviv Drucker, Channel 12 anchor criticizes Yair Golan: "He misled her"
The political storm surrounding the failure to reserve a spot for Einav Zangauker on the 'Democrats' party list is intensifying. Yaron Avraham, a Channel 12 correspondent and anchor, criticized Yair Golan, stating that the politician used the mother of a hostage for political gain before discarding her.
Yair Golan sparked a public outcry after announcing that he would not reserve a spot for Einav Zangauker, mother of captivity survivor Matan Zangauker, on the "Democrats" party list for the upcoming elections. Following criticism from Raviv Drucker on X, Yaron Avraham, a political correspondent and anchor for Channel 12, also weighed in.
In a post on X, Yaron Avraham addressed Golan's clarification regarding his decision:
"In the end, there is no other way to say it: Yair Golan admits that he misled the mother of a hostage who returned. It was convenient for him to have her by his side when he wanted to strengthen himself politically, but now — when the issue has 'dropped from the headlines' — he is discarding her. All the rest of the sweet talk wrapping this up is public relations."
Earlier on Monday, Yair Golan, chairman of the "Democrats" party, published a statement explaining his decision:
"Einav, you are dear to my heart. I appreciate and cherish you very much — for the courage, determination, and strength with which you led a struggle that saved lives. I know that my decision disappointed you, and I am sorry for that from the bottom of my heart. It was my decision, and I bear full responsibility for it and for the pain it caused you. I decided not to use my right to reserve spots out of respect for the decision of 113,000 members of the Democrats and out of trust in the excellent list they chose. This is a decision I made regarding the entire list, and other candidates who were considered for reservation also received the same message from me: there will be no reservations."
Raviv Drucker, host of the television program "Azor Bechira" on Channel 13, was equally critical of the decision:
"This is a continuation of the manipulation from Thursday, a kind of phrasing exercise, as if you considered reserving and decided not to, and you are sorry that you disappointed. This is simply not the truth. You promised to reserve a spot and you broke your promise. If you have already decided to join the dishonorable club of politicians who do not keep their word, the minimum is to admit it and apologize for real, rather than this pathetic PR stunt."
