21 years after evacuation: The settlement of Ganim is re-established
Families from the core group of the "Ganim" settlement moved in this morning to live in the settlement that was evacuated from northern Samaria. Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who led the regulation of the settlement and the return to it, congratulated: "This summer, 11 new settlements will be established in the region." Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan: "A moment of historical correction."
History in Samaria: 21 years after the disengagement from the settlements of northern Samaria, and following the cabinet decision led by Minister Bezalel Smotrich to regulate dozens of settlements, families from the "Ganim" core group went up this morning (Thursday) to the land and re-established the settlement.
Dozen of caravans were placed on the site to serve the families and the branch of the Bnei David institutions that was established there. Alongside the return to Ganim, and the return to Homesh and Sa-Nur, the settlement of Kadim will also be established soon, in a move that will complete the cancellation of the disengagement from northern Samaria.
Minister Smotrich said this morning upon going up to the land and returning to Ganim:
"21 years after the terrible sin of the expulsion from Gush Katif and northern Samaria, we are finally erasing it. We went up this morning again to the settlement of Ganim, one of the four settlements that were evacuated, with a wonderful community from the 'Bnei David' institutions in Eli."
The minister referred to the additional settlements that will be established in Samaria:
"We are establishing 11 new settlements this summer and are practically going up with them to the land in northern Samaria. There were four, there will be 18 settlements, 11 of which immediately, including Homesh, Sa-Nur, Ganim, and Kadim, and there is more to come."
Afterwards, the minister referred to the security significance of the return to Ganim:
"Our Samaria is an inseparable part of the Land of Israel, and of the State of Israel - the security belt of the State of Israel. When we are in Ganim, there is security in Afula, Harish, and Hadera. When we are in the southern Hebron Hills - there is security in Beersheba, Kiryat Gat, and Kiryat Malachi. And when we are in Samaria - there is security in Kfar Saba, Ra'anana, Herzliya, Hod HaSharon, and Netanya. We are strengthening the security belt, killing the idea of a Palestinian state, and clarifying that the Land of Israel is ours, forever and ever."
Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, arrived to accompany the families who are entering their homes for the first time and are about to live in the settlement and said: "This is a moment of historical correction. 21 years ago, they expelled families from here, destroyed houses, and tried to uproot the settlement from northern Samaria. Today we are returning to Ganim and re-establishing it. Not only have we returned to the four settlements that were uprooted, we are doubling and tripling the settlement in northern Samaria."
Moriya Maslati, who moved this morning to live in the settlement of Ganim: "This day is much more than just moving to a settlement - it is a moment of correction, revival, and returning home. 21 years after families were uprooted from here, the people of Israel return and build again in the place where they were forced to leave. We are excited to be the families who get to bring back life, homes, a community, and children here. The people of Israel are returning to their land, and we are privileged to be part of this historical moment. Bringing life back to Ganim."
