Chevra Kadisha

Followers of the late Rabbi Shimon Gueta, who was murdered by a congregant, intend to build a memorial at his burial site. While the Chevra Kadisha initially allocated 24 plots, it is alleged that the followers seized 900. Police determined the matter should be resolved in civil court.

Families of immigrants from the former Soviet Union who were buried in separate plots in Petah Tikva between 2009 and 2017 are eligible for compensation. The Supreme Court ruled that the local Chevra Kadisha engaged in discriminatory burial practices.
