Followers of murdered rabbi took over 900 burial plots; police closed the complaint

The police have closed a complaint against the followers of Rabbi Shimon Gueta, who was murdered about a month and a half ago, regarding the seizure of burial plots at the Netanya cemetery. The complaint alleged that the followers took over 900 plots to build a memorial structure. Police determined that the dispute should be settled in a civil court, as it does not involve criminal offenses.
Rabbi Gueta was murdered at his yeshiva in Netanya by a young man who used to pray there. Following his burial, his followers moved to build a memorial at the site.
From 24 to 900
For the purpose of the memorial, the Chevra Kadisha allocated 24 burial plots to the followers. However, it is claimed that they were not satisfied with this allocation and seized at least 900 plots to construct a massive memorial complex. A site visit confirms that a large-scale structure is indeed under construction.
Off the record, sources within the Chevra Kadisha claim that the rabbi's followers took over the plots using violence and threats.
Following an investigation that included witness testimonies and an examination of land registry plans, the Israel Police stated:
"A complaint filed with the police was thoroughly investigated. Given the existing evidentiary basis, it appears that this is an issue that should be clarified in court in a civil proceeding."
