The operation was launched in an attempt to stop the cycle of murder and shooting that erupted in the city between rival criminal organizations. Some of the criminals tried to escape from the police and were arrested after a foot chase. The previous night, more than 20 suspects were arrested, including the brother of one of the murder victims, whose detention was extended in court.
